DIY Solar Power Kits - The Cheap Alternative Energy Solution For Your Home
Author: Jon Elsdon
A lot of people would love nothing more than to help the environment by reducing the carbon footprint their household leaves on the earth. Well there is a way to do this by building your own DIY Solar Power Kit and start producing clean, environmentally friendly and best of all cheap alternative energy.
DIY as I am sure you well know stands for Do It Yourself. SO as the name implies a DIY solar power kit is a solar power system you put together and install yourself. This may sound daunting, but it need not be as there are now a number of extremely straightforward guides (in video and instruction book format) that walk you through the entire process step by step, best of all the solar panels that make up the kit can be assembled for between 0 and 0! I'm sure you would concur that this is a huge saving in money when you consider a retail solar system will cost you thousands of dollars.
By using solar energy you will not only be helping the environment due to the fact that solar energy is a very clean and renewable energy source, but you stand to make significant savings as well. How much? How does up to 80% sound to you? Just think of the massive savings you will make on every energy bill, not only that you can sell excess energy that you are no longer using back to the power grid!
As mentioned before assembling and building your DIY Solar Power Kit is a very simple process, so easy it I highly recommend you get the whole family involved on the project and you will be educating them in energy conservation as well.

What are the potential alternative energy solution that we can use to replace gasoline in the long run?
This may sound ridiculous at this moment but we may need to face it sometime in the future , so what kind of alternative energy sources that we can tap into before we run out of gasoline? Do you think the oil companies or some other major corporations should really invest in such energy development since this is essential for the survival of our civilization.
it is the monopoly of oil companies cause there are many ways to generate energy
i m an engineer and it ll b helpful for u guy
1 wind turbine -to generate electricity
2 solar panel -to generate electricity
3 solar thermal power plant -to generate electricity
4 tidal waves -to generate electricity
5 flow of river -to generate electricity
6 solar cooling system- for air conditioning
7 solar heating system- for air conditioning
8 Solar cooking -for cooking
9 Solar updraft tower -to generate electricity
10 Bio fuel (many ways) to generate fuel
11 Solar crop dryer – for drying
and research is going on
Why does anyone think that ethanol is a realistic alternative energy solution?
It’s a joke! First, there’s the debate on whether or not there is actually MORE energy used to process the corn to get the ethanol than the ethanol is worth. At best, right now there is a 1:1.2 ration of energy in to energy out. That’s not even close for something to run a nation on, especially a culture that uses the most energy per capita in the world.
Second, there isn’t enough farm land in the world to plant enough corn to supply enough energy to the people of america. We’re talking automobiles, homes, factories, businesses…we’d probably need 5 planets of corn with continuous cultivation.
Third, there is the whole nitrogen problem. Corn is a very inefficient plant at taking in nitrogen. Nitrogen has to be manufactured and poured all over the fields so that the corn grows fast and large enough. This requires even more energy, more pollution, and a big mess if corn plantations continue to spread with this new demand.
And please, don’t even bring up palm oil…if you think that global warming is impacted by man, then using palm oil as an alternative energy may be the thing that kills us all.
And don’t forget about all of the energy required to grow and cultivate corn…you don’t just plant corn seeds and watch it grow…corn is one of the more difficult plants to grow. It requires huge fields to be plowed, machines to plant it, machines to cultivate it…all of those machines run on fossil fuels, and if you want them to run on ethanol, you’re going to be getting even less out of the yield if you factor all of that in.
Or, we can do it all by hand and see a fraction of the yield.
Kerry, shut the fuck up. Ethanol is a type of alcohol, that comes from CORN. That is what I’m talking about. Ethanol. Not alcohol. I never mentioned alcohol in my post. And ethanol is the alternative energy source that is being presented and marketed by two of the top leaders in the United States. And shut the fuck up about other forms of energy…I am asking why anyone thinks ETHANOL is a solution, because it’s such a hot topic.
And yes, I know why it is being marketed. Corporations like Monsanto and Archer Daniels Midland are making a fortune off of this. Monsanto owns patents on the corn genome that is grown in this country, producing corn that only produces sterile seed, forcing farmers to rebuy fertile seeds from them annually. And this is why farmers in Mexico can no longer afford to grow their own corn.
if we converted all the corn produced in the world we wouldn’t come nearly close enough to replace the amount of oil required to sustain the world….it’s really really stupid, it’s already raising food prices….more oil is put on to make ethonal then it produces
it’s a disasterous idea….the government is promoting the idea to make people feel less panicked about the end of cheap oil…
A better solution would be hydrogen cells created using a renewable energy source, the only emission is water.
as for effective renewable sources of energy we have:
geothermal- which seems like the most productive option from what I’ve read although the government has created many barriers in tapping this source
solar- afaik it is inefficient at the moment but promising…I read an artical in Time about a guy in Israel who increased the efficiency by a huge amount using an array of mirrors and there is other promising work done in this area
wind- not very reliable but it works
tides, water currents- not as efficient as the others but it works
creating a perpetual motion machine-Bend those laws of physics
what are your alternative energy solution?
To make the world a better place, what kind of energy would u use to do what ??? example, solar, geothermal, wind etc lets hear some ideas and your reasons!
Better not put the whole of S’pore and our neighbors at risk. We’ll be in for lots of resentment especially to anti nuclear group.
Got a way to produce energy – cheaply, regardless sun or no sun, no wind or dams and not any existing methods. But how to get investment to buy in , my prototype almost ready. Will not want to reveal , until have some way to prevent this idea being stolen even before take off. Who can sponsor my idea and grow it further? Will the government sponsor such ideas, much cheaper and safer, without insisting we reveal so much? A fraction of the intended nuclear expenses would go a long way in this development.
Not only helps S’pore, the whole world can get to use and benefit from it, like our Newater development. This power generation method can even be fitted in remote standalone areas, safe and green. Prices will come down. Fuel price will drop, my method don’t use fuel or depend on sea, sun or wind or nuclear.
Many multinational energy (no longer oil) companies are investing heavily in renewables. Solar PV and wind systems are the most notable sources invested in. Solar thermal towers and geothermal are the most promising long term base-load sources, but they aren’t out of oil yet, so those aren’t talked about much. When oil runs out and coal becomes obviously too dirty then the energy companies will invest in solar thermal and geothermal too.
Why is Singapore not pushing for an longterm Alternative Energy solution.?
Now we have heard that the government is thinking about installing a Nuclear power plant, as far as I can see it’s the easy wat out for the energy problem. What do you think the government should do?
How confident are you that a viable alternative energy solution will be introduced on a large scale?
conspiracy theories about oil and power multinationals if you must.
