    Presumably, this is a new installation.

    In new installations, you can never take any alarms or protective functions at face value. The fact that you are getting a ‘reverse power’ indication may mean that the power is reversed, or it may mean that the reverse power protection function is wired backwards, and your initial attempts at startup are the only first time that this function has been tested.

    Also, when the function says “reverse power”, what does that mean? In this kind of application, there are potentially two undesirable conditions that could be described as ‘reverse power’. One is where the generator is absorbing real power from the system, while the other is where the generator is supplying power to the grid – it all depends on how the system was designed to operate. You need to understand that design before you can interpret what this alarm means.

    Presumably, the system was furnished by a system integrator – get on the phone and tell them its not working and they need to get someone there forthwith to fix it.

    Back up generator reverse power warning and correction?
    If this means power factor, harmonics, or some sort of backfeed is keeping a newly installed generator from staying running … what should we try to do first to correct the problem? We turn building power off … generator kicks on … runs for approx 6 seconds and turns itself off … with reverse power error message … PLease help!

    Does Obama have a back up generator for power when the GOP cut his power on January 3rd?
    Literally:
    They will refuse to pass his budget and refuse to raise the debt ceiling leading to the screeching halt of his entire presidency within 30 days.

    Figuratively:
    Because now that the House controls the power of the purse he will be begging for Thanksgiving leftovers and Thanks Giving “throwaways” at the Salvation Army :)

    No, but my unit just went to hell and back for an incubator. Unsurprisingly, it was far easier to obtain than a boot- I say unsurprising because, well, it’s the army.

    Does anyone know how to set up a personal geothermal power generator for selling power back to the grid?
    Does the power companies pay enough to make it worth bulding? This would be a private business on private land. Selling excess power created by turning a small turbine from rising steam from a hole in the earth.

    Net Metering is the critical issue for your endeavor. You need to find the rules for your State to determine the rate and rules that apply to selling power to the grid. There are also incentives available in some states to help pay for the system. Each state is different and you will need to read up on your states polices to see how they will help your plans.
