building a simple electric generator?
I am conducting a science experiment and every thing has to be made by hand. I need help in purchasing the right materials to build a electric generator. For example what type of wire is needed or magnets. i also want to create a considerate amount of electricity, so if there is anything that will enhance or help make a greater charge please tell me.

This is multiple questions about building an electric generator.?
I am building an AC electric generator using permanent magnets [neodymium iron boron) as part of a highschool science project and have a few questions.
1) i have a basic design planned out based on research that i’ve done but i must know, and its extremely hard to find: What is the most efficient design for converting mechanical energy into electrical?
2) For the stator; What is the most efficient and affordable material to use (keep in mind the stator will most likely be a disc of bound wire or strips)
3) When placing the magnets on the actual ‘spinning disc’ should i place them alternating N/S or should i place them all S or all N (to generate AC electricity)

Can i power an electric car with a gas generator?
I’m getting ready to start building an electric car with a portable gas powered generator used to charge the batteries for backup. I have found a 17kw/hr generator can i use that to rapidcharge my battery bank? If not, what do I need to be able to rapid-charge my battery bank??
For the stator, an epoxy resin works best to hold the coils, and magnets.There are numerous web sites, here are a couple I found useful.

Don’t make the wire too thin. The thinner the wire the higher it’s resistance and that will limit the current of the generator.
Did you ever open up a generator or motor? They have coils of enamelled copper wire wound around a ferrite or iron core that is spinning between strong magnets.
The more often you wind the wire around the core the higher the voltage and the lower the current you get.
You could take a ferrite or iron rod – don’t use steel – and wind some wire around it. Then place it between 2 big, strong neodymium magnets and spin it. Make sure the poles of the magnet face the right way. You may need an alternator too. Alternatively you can also spin a magnet between the ends of a U shaped piece of iron with wire wound around it. The distance between iron and magnet should be as small as possible.
it will depend on what battery voltage you plan to use. there is a electric motorcycle in the EV Album site that has an on-board gen set for battery charging. I am building a power plant for my next electric conversion. having dead batteries isn’t an option. do your research and ask questions. Happy Motoring

But i find that it is quiet impossible for some people who cannot build a generator.
I think portable generator will be useful for those who cannot build their own generator.
