what can run on a 2000 watt emergency power generator?
I am looking at portable power generators. Would like to know would run a 2000 watt portable power generator. I would like to run a refrigerator, some lights, radio, and maybe a TV in case of power failure

It could work. Getting a refrigerator to crank up from a generator could require up to 1200 watts, but after it’s started, it runs with only 300 or 400 watts. Check out the list at this Honda website.

It depends on how sophisticated you want to get. Normally we use both under/over voltage and frequency relays along with a timer (to eliminate nusient engine starting) PLC’s are a good way to accomplish this but they do require perhifials such as pilot relays. (Please overlook the spelling) They also make a packaged unit built by companies such as Kilopax and ECU. Pretty simple stuff.

Where can I find a program to start a generator in case of an emergency power failure?
I’m looking for a computer program that will automatically start a generator during a power outage.

Your question covers a very broad spectrum and is difficult to answer.
How each one is done depends on the design target.
UPS means uninterruptible! Small ones (<1KW) are battery based. Larger systems could be a motor driving a flywheel driving a generator…
There are many things to take into consideration.
Standby/stationary! How long does-it have to last? How much noise…?
A train locomotive is a genset. The traction motors are electric because of the controls required.
Someone making a movie may want the same amount of energy but without the noise…

As suggested, manufacturers websites provides lots of information

    Hope this answers your question

Man this will take long to explain. Just stock up on fire wood and candles, it is cheap and no hassle at all

Are emergency generators needed in Orlando?
Given the frequency of Summer thunderstorms, is power outage a big enough problem to warrant the expense of emergency generators (thinking of the larger outdoor units that come on automatically when needed)? How often do power outages typically occur and for how long?

I Need A Emergency Power Supply For House For 16 KW ,Anyone Have Any Inexpensive Ideas?
We live in a rural area.. we are looking at solar, wind, and battery backup and generators.. We really need enough to supply our house due to the harsh weather conditions here .The power doesnt fail often but I have a gut feeling we need the backup. We looked at generators that run about 3000 just for the generator but would like your ideas as to what would be a good investment or idea for backup.Any links to alternative power ideas that would supply 16 kw would be helpful or if you have ideas please let us know..Thanks for any info, also would like to mention im not physically able to build my own anything but maybe could hire someone locally if there were good enough plans for something.
