For a project, we’ve made a generator. How would we make a battery to hold the energy it porduces, so that we can use it later? It needs to be homemade, we can’t buy one in the store.

Is it possible for the output energy to be bigger than the input energy in a generator?
I’m a student and recently embarked on studying the topic of electromagnetism and I’ve been curious about something.
Would it be possible to create an endless cycle of energy? Considering the energy loss via heat etc.
If I connect two simple DC generators together in a set up where the initial input is kinetic and final output is kinetic energy as well. Such that when I manually turn one of the generator it will produce energy to turn the other generator of which will produce energy too to turn the first generator and this cycle continues even in place of loss of energy via heat?
Urine is an electrolyte with dissolved ions. You can’t “Make” electricity from it per se. But, if you can find another liquid with electrical potential you could possibly make a small charge. Google search electrolytes and batteries.
There is no such thing as a device that can generate energy from nothing. So called perpetual machines are announced every few years with great fanfare but they always turn out to be frauds (or in rare cases honest but careless mistakes).
You can generate electricity from a ‘free’ source like sunlight or tides or wind or waves or geothermal heat, but you can’t generate electricity from nothing. To do so violates one of the fundamental laws of physics, the conservation of mass and energy.
Very convincing sales copy can make you believe in such devices. For instance, I remember reading a few years back about a ‘Genesis’ energy generation system that used a catalyst to split water into hydrogen and oxygen while using just a tiny bit of energy; then the hydrogen and oxygen were used to generate electricity through a fuel cell, and almost all the electricity produced was available, only a tiny bit was needed to split more water. This is malarkey and anyone with some basic physics knowledge will know it’s impossible, but it didn’t stop the company from claiming it had over 100 reputable scientists on its staff or board of directors. A good way to get some start-up money – sell some stocks to uninformed investors, then cash out before the house of cards collapses.
There’s actually a very simple way you can benefit from geothermal energy: A “geothermal heat pump”.
You know that an air conditioner makes it cold inside by making it hot outside. Yes, it is pumping heat. What makes a “heat pump” special is it can air condition, and also go the other direction – heat your home by cooling the outside. It replaces (or helps) a furnace.
The only trouble is, a normal A/C or heat pump is trying to work with hot outside air in the summer, and cold outside air in the winter. It has to make the outside coils REALLY hot or REALLY cold to work properly. This hurts efficiency a lot.
It would work a lot better if the outside coil was in something kinda medium temperature. Below the frost line, the ground is medium temperature all year round! So hey – bury the coil! That’s the geothermal part.
One more thing. In summer, when you’re trying to get rid of heat, you know your hot water heater (for showers)? Hey – dump some of the heat in there, and heat your hot water for free!

Well you said it – the heat loss will eventually cause the generators to stop working. I hate to be such a party pooper but what you described is called a ‘perpetuum mobile’ – as you phrased it yourself: “…the output energy will be bigger than the input energy in a generator.”
I suggest you read about the subject and the laws of thermodynamics- which according to them building one is impossible. If you succeed in building one, feel free to PM me, because the universal implications of a real ‘perpetuum mobile’ will be immense.
What you are talking about is a rechargeable battery , which is a lot more complicated than a primary battery. You can’t just put a copper and zinc strip in a lemon (that would be a primary battery, one that puts out electricity but can’t be recharged)
The only conceivable to build rechargeable batteries are one’s based on lead plates like they use in automobile batteries…but making the plates and putting the antimony and all that would be beyond most people’s resources or time.
But there are other solutions to storing the power other than a homemade battery. You could use the generator to run a small air compressor and store the energy as compressed air and then use an air tools as a use of that stored power.
You could use the generator (DC volts) to do electrolysis of water and store the power produced as hydrogen and oxygen gas to be reunited and burned for heat.
You could use the generator to turn a small winch to raise a heavy weight to a certain height and use that raised weight as energy to drive a wheel or something else. A variation of this is to use the generator to run a small aquarium pump to pump water up hill for storage (Potential energy) and run the water back downhill to drive a pump or motor
