1…Transfer of the rotational Mechanical Energy of the Turbine into the rotation of the Generator Rotor.
2…Rotation of the Rotor within the Magnetic Field of the Stator to convert the Mechanical Energy into Electrical Energy.

A steam turbine can spin the shaft [steam being made with coal, gas, nuke, etc], or a water turbine [hydropower], even a diesel engine.
1. Hydrocarbons take millions of year to form, so we only have a limited supply.
2. The haves and the have nots. Some countries are hydrocarbon limited ( like Japan ) so they are at the mercy of other countries to sell them petrol. Some counties are hydrocarbon rich ( like saudi arabia and region ). Many countries are dependent on them for their fuel. Just the talk within OPEC of limiting their production will increase the price of oil.
3. Those who do not have, covet those who do. Some county ( which will remain nameless, lol ) will invade other countries to get their oil, oops I mean terrorists.
4. Food. You cant use food stock to produce alternative fuel. If you do, the price of food goes up because you are limiting supply.
5. Supply and demand. There may come a time when the demand for power will outrun the production.
6. Pollution: Hydrocarbons and a large portion of the pollutants in the air.
I am sure there are more.
Kerala??? Not sure where that is. Wherever it is, look up the local power company there and see what information you can get from them. Depending on if its regulated or not, you might be able to get a site plan from them that has info on all of their facilities.
