I Want to build a power generator how do I figure out what I need?
I need to know how I would be able to build a motor that can run on substance X.How would I be able to conclude how to build the motor and know that it would work for that specific substance?If possible I would like to be pointed towards some kind of DIY page or someone who can give information on the topic.

I want to build a generator as a hobby, but to produce at least 12V. I want to build a self generating power supply with at least 3000 watts of power.

You could build a generator(alternator) like that but it would probably not work in any less than hurricane force winds. The designs I have seen on the net(Google Wind power) start with 7-8 foot windmills. The 42 inch fan simply would not catch enough energy to make any worthwhile power.

Could you build a wind powered generator using a car alternator driven by a 42” fan blade bolted to the front
