Electricity and magnetism are more closely related than either is to light. One is a direct consequence of the other (and vice versa) between E and M, while converting light to electricity is a complicated process requiring special materials that still make it cost prohibitive for widespread home application. Magnetism appears even more removed from light energy than is electricity.
I would imagine that someday technology may find a way to taunt us with magnets from light, if a useful application can be found for the process.
Magnetic energy (U) is equal to (1/2)*L*I^2, where L is the inductance and I is the current. Let’s start off by calculating the inductance.
L = U*2 / I^2 = (2.00 x 10^-3 J) x 2 / (30.0 A)^2 = 4.44 x 10^-6 H
Now that we know the inductance value, everything else can be calculated.
For 60.0 A, the magnetic energy is…
U = (1/2)*(4.44 x 10^-6 H)*(60.0 A) = 1.33 x 10^-4 J
For 90.0 A, the magnetic energy is…
U = (1/2)*(4.44 x 10^-6 H)*(90.0 A) = 2.00 x 10^-4 J
Wrong, magnetic energy doesn’t defy gravity. It only overpowers it, and only at very short distances. The Maglev train hovers just above the magnets on the tracks, it cannot fly away from them.
You need two magnets with the opposite magnetic poles close to each other to produce the repulsing force. Move one of the magnets away, and the repulsing force dissapears.
One of the most common uses is in automotive power door locks and latches-a spring holds the lock/latch in one position -when power is applied to the circuit and the magnet is electrified it moves against the spring to the opposite position thus opening the door latch or unlocking the door lock.
