Make Your Own Electricity By Building A Permanent Magnetic Generator

    Is there a way to make an electric motor into a gas motor?
    I have a Razor Rebellion Chopper and I want to make the electric motor into a gas powered motor. Or if you know how to make an electric motor faster that would be great too, I just want it to fo faster.

    I have an essay to write about food mixers and i am looking to see what materials go on to make the electric motor inside of them, i have been searching the web and i can see that some use dysprosium but i cant see why they would use them.     i just want to know how fast can i make an electric motor go if i put lots of current on it. and got lots of magnets to get a strong north and south pole to make it go faster. so with all of that do u think it will reach a speed of 200mph or more?

    Apparently use of this element improves the performance of DC motors a bit, and is used when you need the utmost of performance from that motor. But it is rare and expensive.

    I fail to see why it would be used in a food mixer, except as a marketing gimmick, and a way to get a higher price.

    Dysprosium is a rare earth element that has a metallic, bright silver luster. It is soft enough to be cut with a knife, and can be machined without sparking if overheating is avoided. Dysprosium’s physical characteristics can be greatly affected even by small amounts of impurities.

    Dysprosium and holmium have the highest magnetic strengths of the elements, especially at low temperatures. Dysprosium has a simple ferromagnetic ordering at temperatures below 85 K. Above 85 K, it turns into an helical antiferromagnetic state in which all of the atomic moments in a particular basal plane layer are parallel, and oriented at a fixed angle to the moments of adjacent layers. This unusual antiferromagnetism transforms into a disordered (paramagnetic) state at 179 K.

    Neodymium-iron-boron magnets can have up to 6% of the neodymium substituted with dysprosium to raise the coercivity for demanding applications such as drive motors for hybrid electric vehicles. This substitution would require up to 100 grams of dysprosium per hybrid car produced. Based on Toyota’s projected 2 million units per year, the use of dysprosium in applications such as this would quickly exhaust the available supply of the metal. The dysprosium substitution may also be useful in other applications, as it improves the corrosion resistance of the magnets.

    The motor, in your link, is usually just for demonstration purposes, not to power something.

    About the best that you could do is add a thrust stop on both ends of the armature shaft/ wire.

    When it is running, the only thing centering the armature right now is the permanent magnetic.

    Any load will tend to cause the armature to move either right or left.
    Two nails, pounded into a board, with the heads bent in at 90 degrees will act as thrust bearings.

    You might take apart a small battery powered toy car and use some of the plastic gears.

    A gear reduction would add available torque to power something.
    You could carve a couple of small wooden pulleys and glue a small diameter one onto one end of the armature and use a bigger pulley to drive a fan.

    Use a thin rubber band as the drive belt, although I do not believe the motor has the torque to operate any kind of belt drive.

    There is very little torque/ horsepower available from that motor, to power anything.

    How about adding a fan made out of tin foil to one end of the armature?
