Because he also invented many devices that can be used as weapons of mass destruction. The Chinese and North Koreans are working with these devices and they claim they can take out an aircraft carrier all the way out to the horizon. Why is Nikola Tesla not mentioned much in American History?
I am reading how brilliant this man is. The first time I heard of him, was in a movie called “The Prestige”, with Hugh Jackman. I didn’t even think he was a real person until I googled him. I don’t recall him being mentioned in history books or learning about him in school. He seems to be the real father of electricity. Maybe he is mentioned now, or maybe I just forgot? Any input is welcome
He wasn’t in my history class either. 50 some years ago.
However, he “invented” AC electricity, and induction motors, and using transformers to allow electricity to be transmitted long distances.
He really was the architect of the American (and world) electricity grid.
The reason you don’t hear more about him is that Westinghouse bought him out, and, toward the end of his life, he was somewhat mentally unstable.

We would simply have reached where we are today sooner.. and we would now be advanced to a place that is more anarchic and less respectful than we presently are..
Undoubtedly the earth would be in better shape.. but you asked about humanity… an as a species we are greedy, selfish and try to control the environment… his will be our undoing and would have been even if we had followed Tesla.
Who is Nikola Tesla? what has he done and why we don’t hear about him as much as we do about Edison?
“The Man Who Invented the Twentieth Century: Nikola Tesla, Forgotten Genius of Electricity”, is title of a book about Tesla and his fantastic inventions published couple of years ago. Nikola Tesla was by far one of the greatest scientific minds in the history. His great inventions and ideas have revolutionized the world. AC power is one of his most popular inventions. His inventions are usually credited to other scientists, like radio (which was invented by Tesla 2 years before Marconi claimed it) and many other great inventions.
He’s the fist scientist who actually could discover the key to time travel, (philadelphia experiment, montauk project..) and the first scientist to prove Newton’s energy conservation theorem and einstain’s relativity wrong(not in general though) and he designed a free energy system which was actually to produce energy from nothing!(from aether as he explains in his articles).
200 of such inventions of Nikola Tesla is being held by the US government.

I don’t know anything about Tesla’s views on relativity, but it wouldn’t have been unusual for an older physicist, especially an egotist like Tesla, to be resentful of Einstein and doubt his theories. Einstein had a similar reaction when his theories had become established and Heisenberg’s uncertainty principal showed the strong version of Einstein’s principal of relativity used in classical physics was inaccurate.
Plus, Tesla was completely insane. Brilliant, but also insane. Especially later in life, take much of what he said with a grain of salt.
How much further would we be technologically if we had embraced Nikola Tesla’s ideas and not Thomas Edison’s?
Nikola Tesla was the father of alternating current (AC), which is the most common form of electricity today. Thomas Edison favored direct current (DC), the type of electricity in batteries.
However at the beginning of the 20th century, Tesla invented and had perfected a method of transmitting electricty via the atmosphere, known as the Tesla coil. This method of distribution, would have allowed our homes, buildings, and vehicles to run without the use of fossil fuels or wires. Simply put, free energy for everyone.
Edison favored a land-line wire method of distribution and ultimately won, because there was money to be made. The people with the money obviously weren’t in the business to fund a completely free method of power distribution. Ultimately, we ended up with a monthly electric bill.
