Gasoline vs. Propane powered home generator?
What type of generator should I buy for my home, a gasoline or one that is powered by my propane gas line? Pros and cons of each? I need between 10,000-15,000 watt of power since I want to hook it up to my ac. Do they make 10,000 watt generators that are portable? Why would you need a portable generator? Thanks, moving to a hurricane zone and am unfamiliar with these types of products.

a book which would give basic information about manufacturing of small solar power generators for my home.?
wanted also book of wind generators for the same purpose.
please give the link if possible.

If a gas powered generator can power a home for 2 hours on one gallon of gas, why couldn’t it power a car?

Read through my home generator page.
    http://members.rennlist.org/warren/generator.html

Portable gasoline powered generators are available up to at least 15kW, although at that capacity the weight and size somewhat limit how portable the units really are. Even my 5kW generator needs a second person for lifting aboard a truck or trailer.

There are conversion kits available to power the engine from either gasoline, natural gas, or propane. There is a link from my generator page, above. Depending on availability, propane can also be very difficult to obtain during a power outage. The lineups will be much longer as people want to refill their tanks for cooking purposes. On the other hand, the storage issues related to propane are much easier compared to gasoline.

You will not be able to manufacture solar power cells in your own home.

see this link for solar cells.

That is like trying to manufacture a CPU in your own home, you cannot make the semi conductors.
You need a clean factory and millions of pounds worth of equipment for that.

see this link for do it yourself wind turbine.

    and this might help

First thing: Is this going to be a temporary source (in case of a power cut) or a more permanent source.

Because it will be an extension to your house, you might need planning permission. You have a certain ‘amount’ you can build on without permission, so if you haven’t used it, nor has a previous owner, than you can build it with permission. You can check this by going to your council.

  9. Anonymous says:

power it generates is only enough to run your refrigerator and a few lamps not move a 2 or 3,000 lbs car.

making a car move involves overcoming friction and wind resistance as well.

you can purchase solar systems all over the place, they are made by dozens of different companies. however, if you are planning on convering your entire home over to solar you should definitley read more about them as it would require a very large number of cells for the average house. in addition, the setup can be quite complex
