The cylinders that the propane is stored in can either be re-fueled or traded in for new cylinders. A homeowner can even opt to have a propane dealer deliver their fuel. This advantage gives a homeowner numerous options so that they are never without fuel.
The third major advantage a propane generator has over the other types of generators is the cost of fuel. Propane offers an immediate economic stimulus since it is the least expensive fuel available for generators aside from the wind of course! Those three advantages makes choosing a propane generator the best choice for discerning buyers.

I think you mean 8000 watt (or 8kW).
There are two things you need to look at.
First, make a list of the loads that you want to be able to use on the generator. Add up the loads, and compare that with the rating of the generator.
Second, look at the largest motor on the loads that you want to serve. That will probably be a well pump, grinder pump, or blower on your HVAC system, or AC compressor. The generator kW rating needs to be about 5-6 times the motor HP rating for the generator to be able to support the starting inrush of the motor. Note that you only want to look at the single largest motor – you don’t need to worry about simultaneous starting of multiple motors.
My wife has been talking about getting an emergency generator, and while I’m not convinced yet, I’ve done my homework and concluded that a 5kW machine would meet out needs.
Survival using gas stovetop? Why not?
We just survived the worst natural disaster in the sate of KY in modern history. Folks quite literally froze to death in their own homes for lack of heat. Many couldn’t get vehicles out because of downed limbs, and couldn’t even walk out because of deadly ice. (Over a thousand broken bones from falls on the ice alone)……and we kept hearing to NOT use our gas stove top to keep the house warm. Or to just use it for 10 minutes max. I am wondering why. Not in a facetious way, really. For six days we boiled 2 pots of water for thirty minutes at a stretch several times a day and kept the temp between 52 and 65 in weather down in the single digits.
If one can use the stove top all day on Thanksgiving, with no warnings of impending death, why can’t we use it for half hour increments in a crisis? I actually think we were safer considering all the cases of carbon monoxide poison casualties we have heard of from poorly used generators/kerosene/propane heaters. Any thoughts here appreciated…..just wondering about the science involved in the warning. TIA
Just an interesting fact; we were also without ANY kind of phone service, cell OR landline for days as well…..No phones of any kind. It was creepy.

I’m planning an expedition to travel from US south to the southern most of South America, up past home as a test drive, to Alaska, might take a ship to Russian cost, travel threw to Finland, France, England, Ireland, Spain, Italy, down to Southern Africa going threw the Bolivian rain forest traveling Africa, to the southern part of South Africa, threw Egypt, threw Iraq and Afghanistan to support the troops morals. Threw India, China, Cross over to Japan, Singapore, Papa New Guinea, Australia, then travel around Australia.
The tools used is an 08 F350, King Suspension, Exhaust, Snorkels, steel, Ignition, 250 gallons of Diesel, green paint, tan soft top, top rack full of tools etc, rear rack on top of two spare tires, winch’s, tons of spare parts “drive shafts, seals, a/c parts etc”, 20 spare tires, 4 extra wheels, 6 wheels and tires that’s the same as the truck for the 39 ft pulled toy hauler. Weekend Warrior. All tools needed, air compressor, welder, generators x 3.
Sat comm, Sat Phones with dishes, 20ft UHF/VHF, Marine Garmin Navigation “custom
” Marine Furumo Radar, Foxtel mobile dish, Directv Mobile Dish, and some sort of internet Mobile dish. Also will include a small weather station to transmit data for records and trip info. This vehicle will be GPS tracked, it will have 3 side view cameras “Switched on LCD outside instead of mirrors” reverse cameras, ground clearance cameras, FLIR camera for the front “roo’s people, lions etc” 3 1500 amp power inverters, amps for the antennas, dual 200 amp alternators, 10 Optima batteries, lap top inside with an extra touch display in the pass seat for my wife, about 50 switches in the back with just a circuit breaker possibly, about 10 dual gauges inside, including an extra 10 switches. PS3, DVR, etc. Also thought of an idea for raising the rear roof for another “windshield” viewing window with removable sunroof, rear seat folds out to a lil futon, the rear has a small door to access the fridge in the back. Turnable tv screen in the back for my daughter.
In the trailer it would have a lot of storage features, propane, extra water tanks, batteries, fuel, deep freezer, full-size fridge, and one quad.
Total trip distance is 150,000 miles. Approximately one year and a half to 2 years.

I’ve researched quite a lot, no one really has any record of doing so..
World record is a couple in a Patrol from Aussie traveled 239,000 miles within 6 years or so.
Taking a hired boat from shores to shores.
My concerns are the ground clearance due to the trailer “if I need to go severe offroad to get to another road” country not letting me in, the distance to the next fuel stop.
Or is it that there is a connected road from the Eastern coast of Asia threw to England to South Africa threw Bolivia, Egypt to South Korea?

This system will be able to go great distances self contained without using any civilization for 2,000 miles and 30 days. I have traveled threw out Australia, there I own a Land Rover Defender 90, here in the US I own an 08 F350 6.4l an a Rubicon. I live in Arizona and am no city boy. I rock crawl, know how to survive threw when I was in the Army, and have traveled great distances before. “94 Rodeo from Phx to Panama”
