Chief Operating Officer and President of Verso Paper Corporation recently articulated that, the company is working hard to lead the green energy sphere and with the renewable energy investments the company would establish large number of green energy from the biomass. There is lots of it around. Alberta if Natural Gas were used the way oil is, would be the Saudi Arabia or maybe the Iran of the world. Certainly we have almost as much as Russia and our sources are much more stable because of Alberta’s government.
But there is a limit. It is not a renewable resource. there is a limit.
Cng is used in Adelaide to run there buses, but, although it’s been discussed for home use, it’s never gone ahead, New Zealand uses CNG for cars, but it lacks power, giving only around 60% of petrol.
The gas supplied and commonly used on cars in OZ is Liquid petroleum gas.(LPG.)
I have owned cars over the last 12 years running on LPG, it is superb, the Govt is now offering a $2000 rebate to have private vehicles fitted for this fuel.
My 97 ford station wagon cost me $2300 to have LPG tanks fitted 6 months ago, Govt refunded $2000, and the $300 I saved in just over a months running, I am now saving around $120 a month in fuel costs.
Petrol $1. 34, LPG .67cents.
Cars in Australia have been using LPG for over 30 years, check the yellow pages for LPG fitters, and shop around, prices vary.
I would add that I wouldn’t consider converting a car with less than a 1.8 litre capacity, (motor size.) they can lose power.

Answer is both. Non renewable if we consider the piped Natural gas which comes from Gas wells. This is like any other fossil fuels formed over hundreds of years when organic matter decays and Methane is generated. so if it taken and used it gets converted into carbon dioxide and hence we call it non renewable. But other sources like municipal wastes, animals wastes etc when bio degraded with the help of micro organisms they generate Methane which again can be used for burning purposes. This source can be called renewable.
(But if you take the theoretical meaning then the Methane coming out of the bio reaction also cannot be called renewable, because the methane which is formed does not become methane again after use.)

Natural gas is not principally a renewable source since once it is used, it burns creating the energy equivalent for that particular mass.

However here are some examples of natural renewable resources; geothermal power, fresh water, timber, and biomass.
