Small Business Failures: Causes And Prevention Tips
Author: Michael Lee
Every year, more and more entrepreneurs experience small business failures. The reasons behind these seemingly sudden deaths vary. However, these causes are avoidable if you know how. As early as now, you can take measures to prevent your business from dying on you.
Read on to learn the causes of small business failures, and how to prevent them.Cause # 1: Poor Management
One of the major reasons for small business failures is poor management. I've heard so many stories about entrepreneurs being too laid-back that they succumb to mediocre management.
A word of advice: Small businesses may be easier to manage than large multi-national companies, but that doesn't mean they don't need your attention any less.
When you let your guard down, that's when you start missing some of the most crucial details. Customer service disappointsa¦ Your own employees steal from youa¦ Overall quality simply isn't worth it anymore. The best thing to do here is to remain dedicated to your work. Have every minor detail go through you first.
Cause # 2: Poor Location
Starting a business isn't just about having the capital to set it up. It's also about knowing where to put it up. Lack of careful planning leads to small business failures. For example, you can't exactly start an ice cream business in a place that is always cold and stormy, or in a place where no one eats ice cream at all.
In order to avoid wasting time and money, make sure you conduct a serious study on the nature of your business and where it would most likely thrive. Conduct a feasibility study or a survey. Do everything you can to prepare yourself before the business actually materializes.
Cause # 3: Poor Marketing
Build it and they will come. Yeah right; if it's only that easy. But you can't just start a business and expect people to know what it's all about.
Unless you practice your marketing chops or at least generate a bit of buzz, don't expect to be flooded by customers. In fact, don't expect to have any customers at all. At most, all you'll have is a curious bystander or two. Even word-of-mouth requires you to do something to get people to talk.
Every business has a different gimmick to get people to come to them. The most reliable would be to advertise in the local newspaper or to give out flyers in the street. Others like to play loud, catchy music to get people to notice them.
With these tips, you don't need to fear small business failures. Yours will go on living and growing for a long time to come.

Why can’t we make trucks like trains, run by electric motors and charged by small diesel generators?
They did make a bus on this principle ages ago, but it didn’t really catch on untill recently. The hybrid car is an example of what you describe.
Lorries have to cope with a lot more friction and drag than a train, and therefore using this system would be less efficient than just plugging the wheels straight onto the engine, which is why it hasn’t been done yet.
How much would it cost to use a small diesel generator to run AC since I can afford what PG&E charges?
for electricity
I am not convinced, did I mention I live in a state that uses smart meters and baseline power billing. and pseudo science to set energy policy
If you are going to use a small generator, natural gas will be likely to cost less than diesel; but I still think buying from PG&E will cost less.
Possible exception: You need power in the middle of nowhere, for a short time, and PG&E will charge lots of money to run a line and new transformer to the location. (In this case, you still may wish to *rent* the generator)
I think they are all two stroke engines because its cheaper to manufacture it and is uncomplicated
moreover there is no need for acceleration of the engine speed like in a car or motorbike
so the speed is fixed
you can know its 2 stroke by the sound of the engine and looking at the cylinder you will see there are no inlet and exhaust valves
Diesel electric generators are two stroke or four stroke?
diesel electric generators used commonly at home and small firms like Cummins , Jakson etc.(5kv-20kv) work on 2 stroke cycle or 4 stroke cycle?
what is fuel consumption and good brands of 2 kv diesel generators in india?
I want to buy a small diesel generator? what are various brands of small diesel generators (2KV or smaller) available in India and their fuel consumption (their duration of functioning per liter of diesel). Fuel efficiency is the top priority for me
I have heard about 2 kva, 2.5 kva diesel gensets but not able to get required details.
I work in a rural dispensary without an electric supply. So I need to run generators for 6 hours a day. petrol gen will b quite expensive to run. please suggest me alternatives
thaks
2 kva is too small for a diesel generator…..basic disel generators start wit 15kva onwards….u can go in for a small generator rum by petrol…..honda is good in that case!….i dontk know bout the consumption but a liter can give u more than half hour of supply!…approx!
Who Knows About Diesel Generators??
Our electric bill in Belize has tripled. Corrupt company is about to shut my power off. I need to know about diesel generators. How big do I need for a small house that has TV, computer, large fridge, lights and pool pump?
Do you search by HP or watts or volts or what? I am a generator dummy. I saw a silent one online
for $4800. Small and silent sounds great; $4800 sounds horrible. Anyone have ideas?
I have information about generator installation and use on my web page. It should get you pointed in the right direction.

I don’t recommend anything less than 5kW. Careful about selecting your generator. There is a flood of cheap units coming from China. They should be avoided if at all possible.
