Web Meetings - Big Conferences, Small Rooms

The introduction of web meeting has not only helped companies cut costs; it has also opened doors for new opportunities. Web meetings, while not initially wholeheartedly embraced, has emerged as one of the few positives of the current economic slump. Conducting meetings on the web has not only made geographical borders irrelevant, but even smaller enterprises can now get in on the act.

It has become increasingly clear that a successful web meeting is more dependent on quality content than anything else. It is easy enough to say that web meeting improves efficiency, but few stop to think about how indispensible it has really become in today’s workplace. For example, it is easy to see the kind of confusion caused when reviewing documents in an audio conference call.

One of the big pluses with web meetings is that it incorporates a number of different formats. These include one on one meetings, team meetings, inter-departmental meetings, webinars or public presentations. The beauty of the format is that you are not limited by your physical size. Even the smallest company can present their big ideas using web meeting. Naturally, some basic planning is needed to help make your web conference a success, including:

- Plan the talking points beforehand
- Prepare and organize documents
- Send email notifications and reminders to ensure full attendance
- If possible keep it short and to the point
- Use bullet points to make the presentation easy to follow

The Right Meeting Software

While just about any web conferencing product can be used to run an online meeting, shortcomings can quickly become obvious. Thankfully, many of these are not major issues. The safest bet is to know what you need and expect from the product and try to acquire one that meets your requirements. With all the options available today, it is important to do a trial of the software before the actual purchase. This way you will be able to evaluate the product in the actual setting in which it will be used.

Understandably, cost is always at the forefront of considerations for any small businesses. Thankfully, many web meeting solutions are affordable these days with pricing tailoring business of all sizes. Plus, they are packed with useful features. Some of the more practical options of online meeting software include

- Whiteboard: This allows all participants to use a common space in real time. It is particularly useful for a free flow of ideas.
- VoIP: This is an essential aspect of a successful meeting software today. Via the computer participants can communicate with the help of headsets and speakers.
- Slide shows: These can enhance any presentation.

In a web conference setting, your counterparts will not care about the size of your business or even your office. Making a good impression is still important, however, within a web meeting setting. A quick search online will turn up recognized names in web conferencing solutions. Read about the solutions provided and determine the best fit for your company. Then you are on your way to hosting a big and successful web meeting, regardless of your company’s size.

Is their a generator small enough that is at least 50 watts no more thatn 70watts taht fits a standard size house plug. I will go on a coach bus and i want to bring wii with me but i need a small generator. any ideas where i can get one.

  2. TeknoKid says:

I’m not sure what you mean by generator.. you maybe need a battery system.. but you would need to power a television along with it.. the Wii isn’t really set up as a portable system..

Check the link below.. some people set up a solar power generator for their Wii..

    Good luck..

Can a small generator be driven by hand, to produce enough electricity to drive a motor?
If a small generator is driven by hand, can it power a similarly sized motor?
I am planning to use BLDCs for the project.

    Small Generator?
I’m looking for a “small generator”, that can be easily rechargable, or has placeable batteries. Mainly to plug my computer, and everything else in it, if the electricity would happen to go out.

Does anyone know what to buy, or what specific things to search for? Are they expensive?

Where can I buy a small generator?
I am making a very small scale model of the wind turbine for science class. I need to find a really small generator. Where I can buy that? If there isn’t one, if you know if any substitution for a device converting mechanical energy into electrical energy, please refer me to it. Thanks!

You need an “uninterruptable power supply” or UPS. These contain rechargable batteries, and are used to keep the PC power on when the main power goes out. Their prices depend on the battery capacity. Higher battery capacity will keep your computer running longer, or will keep more accessories powered up, but it will cost more. To determine how much power you need, check the power rating of your PC. Also, keep in mind that a CRT monitor probably draws more power than a PC does. (LCD monitors draw a lot less power.)

The power ratings for devices are usually found in the user manual or are marked on a plate or label on the device itself. Power units are listed in watts. Match the total wattage of your applicances with the UPS ratings.

One company that makes a lot of UPS’s is “APC”, so if you google “UPS APC” you’ll get a bunch of hits to refer to.

    Yes.

Small, regular permanent magnet motors should work…the kind in any toys, but you’ll do better if the generator has gears so the crank turns the motor really fast. Or you could mount a wheel and run it along the floor really fast.

Don’t expect great results. The motor may just barely spin. I would try to get a larger motor to run a smaller one.

BLDCs ?? Brushless D C motors. …Nope. They have electronics doing the commutation that won’t be operating properly as a generator.

  8. Shirru says:

How to make a small electricity generator with the things around us?
How can we make a small generator with the things which lie around us and without facing much difficulty??

  9. Wirr says:

all you need is a magnet and a piece of wire, when you move a piece of metal through a magnetic field it generates a current

turns out force, magnetism and electricity are inextricably linked

  10. lol says:

Depends, you can buy this in Ebay.-
