For or Against Wind farms?
Author: David Oglaza
These will generate enough power to supply the average electricity needs of 8,500 homes in the local area. This wind farm is not situated out to sea but in the picturesque hills of the Saddleworth Moors and would be visible for miles around. Government targets state that 10% of the UK's energy should be supplied by renewable resources by 2010 and developments like the Saddleworth Moor turbines would contribute towards that total. Leading environmentalists from across the country have previously convened in Saddleworth for the first ever National Forum opposing the creation of wind farms on rural beauty spots.World renowned TV botanist, Professor David Bellamy, joined former Downing Street press secretary, Sir Bernard Ingham and hundreds of activists at the National Wind Farm Group Conference. There were a total of representatives from over 50 environmental groups from across the country attending this event. It aimed to raise awareness about the perceived dangers of wind farms and bring environmental groups closer together in their fight against the government.
The Saddleworth Moors Action Group says the turbines would have a negative impact on a unique landscape. The group also insist their campaign is not prompted by "not in my backyard" sentiments, but through a genuine desire to preserve the character of the local area.
One could argue that the government is not bothered about the environment then they are continually financing the construction of coal fired power stations in the third world and building more airports and more motorways in Britain?
Are wind farms a concerted effort to save the environment or just another commercial money making scheme for the companies involved?

Nancy Pelosi has stock in wind energy companies, is that why she’s blocking drilling?
All these global warming nuts dont practice what they preach. They fly around in private jets and caravans of suv’s but tell us to drive junky little go carts. Nancy Pelosi is dropping a bipartisan effort to drill but she won’t. Could it be because she has stock and investments in wind energy companies. She disclosed this on her financial disclosusre thing herself so its true.
Hookem, you said she’s in bed with T Boone Pickens, really bad mental image there.
provide facts and figures&analyse the opportunities and challenges that wind energy companies face in setting?
what are type of challenges are needed for wind farms in india for setting them up in india?
I need to analyze the opportunities and challenges that wind energy companies face in setting up wind farms?
I need to know the challenges especially faced in india
What are some wind energy companies and where are they used around the world?
I have some land in Kern County and how do i sale it to Windmill or wind energy companies?
So I have like 20 acres of land in Kern County. Where do I start if I want to sell some land to developers or windmill manufacturers. The reason is because there is a market of wind energy up there.
Are there certain companies interested in buying this land? Would it be developers, manufacturerss, operators or owners or windmill or windturbin ?
How do I get a list or where can I start. Anyone have any advice?
The easiest way is to contact a real estate broker. You will have to go through one to sell it, you might as well have them do this legwork for you. They will know if any companies are looking around for land.
T. Boone Pelosi? No. She’s blocking drilling because she’s a moron. But she’s in bed with Pickens because she’s crooked. They only way that wind power will work is with massive… MASSIVE… government subsidies. She’s in a position to push these subsidies along. And she’s in a position to profit from them.
The primary factor that I’m aware of for wind farms to be economically feasible is that you need an area that has a constant, average wind speed of 12 mph. The next challenge is how far is this area from the population center that you’re trying to supply, and do you have the means of constructing the transmission lines that are then required.
I would think that the northern parts of India, the sub-Himalayan areas, would be ideal, but how far would the power then have to be transmitted for use.
Makers of turbines:
General Electric (US)
Gamesa (Spain)
Vestas (Denmark)
Siemens (Germany)
Clipper (US)
Suzlon (India, I think?)
The wind potential is more in Gujarat coast and in southern tip, near Cape Comorin. The land is a big problem. The soaring rates of land in these areas are astronomical. Secondly maintenance of wind mill is a problem. Skilled technicians and qualified engineers in this field is a handicap. Electricity Boards {Tamilnadu & Gujarat} are infected by corruption and many a time natural justice is denied to the investors. Lastly the inconsistency in wind force especially at Cape Comorin is a problem sometimes the expected wind energy is going beyond Normal.
