Wind Energy Home

Author: Mike Matthews

The term wind energy home is being used more and more to reflect the growing needs of some people to source alternative energy for residential use.

It is much easier and less expensive in the short term to connect into your local electricity company's power grid than it is to set up and hook into energy produced by wind turbines.  However in the long run you should be able to save money by utilising wind power for most of your energy needs. As an added bonus you will become more independent as a stand alone unit. It is also worth mentioning the fact that not receiving an electricity bill while still enjoying the advantages of the modern electrically-driven lifestyle is a great feeling.

Electricity bills and fuel bills generally are rising steadily, with no sign of this changing. The ongoing cost of wind turbine energy is pretty much zero. While the cost of installing and connecting up to a wind turbine is steadily coming down as demand rises and supplies increase in line with this increased demand.  Add to that the fact that research and improved technology make wind turbines ever more efficient and affordable. People now want to move away from the traditional electricity supply grids which often use up fossil fuels.  This is, of course, for personal reasons which include the desire for greater independence, the desire to live remotely or rurally and not forgetting political motives with increased concerns about the environment.  This motivation to move away from the traditional energy sources is the same one that causes people to seek the power of the wind for their energy.

In many countries, to a greater or lesser degree, homeowners who choose alternative power sources, including wind energy, are often eligible for tax rebates.  In addition, there are places where these homeowners are allowed to sell their excess energy production back to the power company. In these circumstances it can be seen that the lucky homeowners are in fact profiting from their own energy production.  A sensible move!!

Throughout most industrialised countries national governments are pushing to get a range of tax incentives on to the statute books.  As might be imagined, there are many power and utility companies who feel that it is unfair that they should have to pay commercial rates to private individuals who are producing excess energy.  These companies are also expected to suffer reduced short term profits.  Not an easy situation to be in.

Depending where you are in the world {some countries have more consistent wind than others}energy produced from your own wind turbine is becoming economically viable as well as satisfying the obvious environmental arguments. Wind energy home will continue to be a term discussed and argued over as time goes by.

How do you take wind energy to energy for your home?
If you have an alternator hooked up to a few blades outside, then what do you do with the two wires from the generator? How can it be used?
Can it power my computer? What circuitry does it take to charge a car battery with it? If possible, can it be integrated into my home power grid?
I see many with wind turbines but they don’t go into how they use it.

Conversion costs of wind and solar energy on an average home.?
I need a little help. Can someone help me to find out the conversion cost on an 2,330 square feet home (average size) using wind energy by itself then solar energy by itself. Anything will help.

How do you make solar panels?? And is there any other ways to make energy like wind energy at home?
I live in a place where its always hot and i think building a Solar panel will really help out plus help out the environment as well…but plz show me and tell me how to buildit step by step. Also i would like to know if there is any other type of energy things i can build? If so plz tell me and show me.

How to make wind energy at home?
Ok, so im in a go green camo and we just got mini solar panels to take home (about the size of an itouch) i know i cant make those at home but i was wondering if i could make a windmill at home. Not a big one, just a small one (i wouldnt use it to power anything just for fun to try this out.) but how do i make one and hwo do i hook up the wires?

How can I generate electricity for my home by using wind energy?
How can I generate electricity for my home by using wind energy?
Please give me all necessary details, how to construct or design wind turbine, how much amount of electricity I will need and how to do it all this process, I have studied Physics but I don’t know how to do this technically to produce electrical energy for my home.

First, a quick check with your local building department will tell you whether it’s forbidden, and if not, whether there’s even a chance they will issue you a building permit for it. Check with your neighbors, since if they object, you’re unlikely to get a permit. Unless you’re a certified professional engineer with lots of time on your hands to do the research, hire a professional to evaluate your site and advise you on options. You need steady, strong winds much of the time.

Since wind is intermittent, you need either a grid connection or lots of (expensive) storage.

In my opinion, this is not a practical technology for home deployment.

Wow! Your heart is in the right place and your windmill might be in the right place too, but they are very tricky to build. Balance must be perfect or nearly so. Most people buy the windmills or wind turbines and still have trouble setting them up just right. If you want it just for fun, you might get away with one of the short windmills sold for decoration.I trust that you can find wiring diagrams online. I think that I have seen them in books.

These are some really good green energy links. check them out

google in your area. Why would you want to do this. Your energy costs will double. better bet is to cut back, insulate, and rethink what you need.

What you see outside is essentially a wind powered battery charger. The batteries inside power an inverter which will supply 120VAC to selected circuits in the house.
I’m putting together something similar which may help you understand what is being done. Read through my web page for wiring diagrams, charge controller, tower drawings, pictures, etc.
